Fatima Kamal (above left) is a current high school junior at Atlanta Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science and Technology (GSMST). She has just conducted an extended internship in the Davies lab using the ReactIRTM mentored by Felicia Fullilove.

Her project resulted in selection by GSMST to compete in the Gwinnett County Science and Engineering Fair. Out of 150 high school chemistry projects, Fatima was 1 of 5 students awarded second place and was asked to deliver a distinguished lecture.

Jessie Yuan (above center) is a junior at Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science, and Technology (GSMST) which is ranked third best high school in the nation by U. S. News & World Report. Jessie has completed her Junior Fellowship Experience (JFE) in the Huw M. L. Davies lab at Emory University under the mentorship of third year graduate student Kathryn Chepiga (above right).

Together, Jessie and Kathryn worked on the synthesis and exploration of chiral mixed valent Rh(II)-Rh(III) catalysts, an ongoing collaboration between the Davies and Berry groups. Jessie Yuan presented this research at the JFE symposium on April 30th and was awarded with an outstanding achievement award which will allow her to compete in the Gwinnett County Science and Engineering Fair.
