CCHF hosts High-School tours at Emory University

10/2013

Nearly 30 very excited 7th and 8th graders from Wood Acres School came to Emory’s campus to learn about chemistry and the Center’s research. So, in less than 1.5 hours the middle school students participated in a 15 minute introduction to chemistry, toured two CCHF labs (Blakey and Davies), and attended a fun, “explosive” chemistry demos session. Not only did the students have a great time learning about the center’s research but our CCHF graduate students and faculty had a blast talking with them about chemistry and showing them all of the cool things going on in the labs.

Thank you for taking time to share your passion for science with our students. They are still buzzing about your presentations, and I am still smiling thinking about the positive vision of science they now have to build upon. It was an amazing experience and one that will be cherished for a long time. Who knows, perhaps one of the students will be a future Emory researcher!
