As part of the CCHF's Science Envoy Program we partnered with the Center for Chemical Evolution (CCE) Primary Undergraduate Institution (PUI) Seminar Series. The program sends postdocs and senior graduate students from the two Centers to give seminars that connect their research, and personal stories on how they started on R1 research. Depending on speaker interest, mock-faculty interviews may also be scheduled. The Centers partnered with Kennesaw State University, Clayton State University and Spelman on this program.

For the Research Panels, the panelists give students at the host school a sense of what graduate research entails. They tell personal stories on how they got started in research and then provide a 15-minute vignette on their graduate research.

For the Research Talks, the speakers prepare a 45-minute research talk geared toward an undergraduate chemistry audience. After delivering the lecture, they spend some time answering attendees’ questions on graduate research.

On Tuesday, November 7th, 2017, Helen Siaw, the CCHF Grad Prep Club Leader, and two CCE members gave a Research Seminar Panel to a group of 21 Spelman chemistry majors and their professors.

Robert Kubiak (Davies group) participated in another research panel seminar on Tuesday, November 14th, at Clayton State University. On Friday, November 17th, Sidney Wilkerson Hill (CCHF) gave a Research Seminar at Spelman College to a group of 7 senior chemistry students that are currently considering applying to graduate school.
