In May of 2019 the CCHF announced the inaugural IRES cohort. These students were selected based on their previous research experience and their enthusiasm for pursing an international research exchange.
The CCHF has established strong links with a number of international partners, all focused on developing C–H Functionalization as an enabling technology for a range of chemical applications. The teams partnering with the CCHF for the IRES program are based in Daejeon in South Korea, Nagoya in Japan and Regensburg in Germany.
These nine students will travel this summer to spend 10 weeks in their host labs, exploring new sides of their chemistry, expanding their knowledge of research culture in other countries and gain experience living in another country.
Half way through their time the whole team will come together for the 2019 IRES annual meeting, this year being hosted by the team at KAIST in Daejeon. After the ten week experience the students will return to their respective universities, but we will be bringing the team together again in September in Atlanta to report back on their experience and reflect on the impact it has had as part of the CCHF annual meeting.
