Among the various types of redox-catalysis employed in Pd-Catalyzed C–H Functionalization the Pd(0)/Pd(II) manifold by the oxidative addition of aryl halides is priveledged; no external oxidant is required. While intra-molecular variant arylations of C(sp3)-H bonds have been demonstrated, but an intermolecular version had not been described until a recent report from the Yu Group. This collaborative report from the Yu and Musaev group interogates the factors involved in this transformation and highlights the importance of the conditions employed.
