The mission of the CCHF International Research Experiences for Students program, entitled the Global Institute for C–H Functionalization (GICHF), is to establish a vibrant training environment for collaborative global research. This is being built by means of a productive international research collaborative with sites in Japan, South Korea and Germany.

Each year the GICHF will send a cohort of up to 8 students (both undergraduate and graduate students are welcome to apply), to our international partners, where they will perform a 10-week research exchange between May-August.

Each year the program will include a GICHF annual meeting, that will be hosted, on a rotating basis, at one of our international partners. The annual meeting will serve as an opportunity to bring together the entire student cohort as well as faculty from the United States, for a week-long brainstorming, community building, and educational event.

The overarching scientific theme that brings these international teams together is C–H functionalization, a science that is at the leading edge of academic chemical research.
