In celebration of Earth Day, April 22nd 2015, the Resnick Institute for Sustainability at Caltech are holding a special screening event of their newly released documentary about the novel discovery by CCHF member Prof. Brian Stoltz in collaboration with Prof. Rob Grubbs.

The documentary ‘Element 19’, describes the work and significance of the potassium-catalyzed C–H Functionalization reaction recently discovered by these groups at Caltech and described in the journal Nature. It underlines the sustainable significance of this novel transformation and the implications for the design of future catalysts and reactions.

The short film follows the work of Anton Toutov, Boger Liu and Kerry Betz, describing the process of the discovery and discussing the significance of the research.
