Gonzalo was a postdoctoral fellow in the Houk lab at UCLA from 2013 to 2015. Gonzalo work in collaboration with the Sherman and Montgomery groups to model and guide the design of PikC mutants.

In 2015 Gonzalo began his independant research career at the Universidad de La Rioja in Spain.
