One of the key challenges for the Center is the development of effective C-H Functionalization catalysts based upon earth abundant metals. The Musaev group based at Emory University have used the many lessons gained from modelling and assessing the current generation of catalysts to explore the factors required for the development of future earth abundant metals.
This report describes their findings examining an iron-based catalyst with a non-innocent redox capable ligand framework. These type of studies will help not only guide the development of future catalysts but also help rapidly investigate new areas of catalyst design and development.
